frequently asked questions

Is it possible to obtain a student visa for studying with your institution?

Thank you for your interest in our teaching services. However, please note that TVO is an independent language teaching organization and not a registered school or university. Regrettably, we are therefore unable to provide assistance in obtaining student visas or other immigration-related documents. Please consult with your local embassy or consulate for further information on visa requirements.

What courses do you offer?

We currently offer both online and offline classes, private 1-1 and group lessons. We open new group classes (3-7 students/class) monthly at our office in Tây Hồ, Hà Nội. For more information, please click on Classes on the menu bar.

What are the different course levels available?

Our current curriculum includes the following level:
1. Complete Beginner
2. Upper Beginner
3. Elementary
4. Upper Elementary
5. Intermediate
6. Upper Intermediate
7. Pre-advanced
8. Advanced

What types of course materials do you offer?

TVO team has developed our own Vietnamese teaching curriculum, coursebook and course materials based on our experience in teaching Vietnamese since 2013.

Our curriculum follows levels from Beginner (A1) to Advanced (C1). Our books focus on teaching Communication Vietnamese, and therefore:
1. Only introduce natural, daily spoken language
2. Provide practical, common examples and conversations
3. Include lots of practice and speaking activities
We believe casual, approachable coursebooks are more efficient than highly academic ones with lots of complicated explanations and technical terms, which is why you will find our materials casual, practical, easy to understand and easy to follow.

What are the cancellation and refund policies?

Cancellation policy:

For one on one lessons:

Any notice of cancellation must be made at least 24 hours before the lesson via text message or phone call to the teacher. If you inform the teacher later, you will still have to pay 100% of the lesson fee. This rule also applies to teachers (students will receive 01 free lesson if the teacher cancels less than 24 hours).

For group lessons:

  • If the class is on but you are unable to attend the lesson, you will still be charged for that lesson (In the case where you have to miss one or more lessons, we recommend you discuss and reschedule with your teacher and other students).
  • For each course, you are provided with 3 make up sessions in case you miss lessons. These make up sessions will be conducted online at a convenient time for both the teacher and student. Each session is 30 minute long.

No refund can be made to students once the course has started unless cancellation of the course is Tieng Viet Oi (TVO)’s decision. However, in cases where you have to stop the course due to unexpected reasons, the remaining lesson fees can be transferred to another person of your choice.

Are there any extra fees for exams and materials?

At TVO, our courses include mid-term and final exams at no additional cost to the student. For those who purchase a package for group classes or a 1-1 package, a complimentary textbook is included. However, should you opt for hourly classes, the textbook will incur a separate charge of 200k/book for beginner and elementary levels, and 150k/book for other levels.

Tell me more about TVO's teachers

Tieng Viet Oi teachers are chosen for their teaching ability, teaching experience, personality and passion for spreading Vietnamese language & culture.
Our team of teachers are also dedicated to co-creating rich resources of Vietnamese learning and teaching materials.
At TVO, we believe that a good teacher is not simply someone who has a lot of certificates and experience, but is someone who can understand, connect and get on well with her students. Teaching skills is something we can train and provide, but not attitude, humour, and kindness.

Do you offer any cultural activities or events?

At TVO, we host monthly events which include immersive culinary experiences, engaging language exchanges, and culturally rich events specifically for occasions like Tết or Mid-Autumn. Our goal is to provide our students with a well-rounded understanding of Vietnamese language and culture, by offering exciting events that foster a deeper appreciation of the country’s heritage. For more information on our upcoming events, please visit our Activities page featured on the website’s menu bar.

Do you offer any discounts or promotions?

At TVO, we offer a range of discount programs that may vary according to different periods. However, we have implemented a fixed policy to provide our clients with a complimentary lesson. This opportunity is available in two situations:

  • When you introduce another student to start a Vietnamese course with TVO (your name has to be mentioned when the new student gets in touch with TVO)
  • When you write TVO a review on Google and TVO’s official Facebook page.
